The spread of coronavirus continues to accelerate across the African continent, where healthcare systems are already extremely fragile. Misinformation and fake news have also made the fight against the spread of coronavirus even more pressing as official health guidelines are getting lost in the noise across the continent.

At the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, Aequitas Global worked with its partners around the world to develop and launch the #INFORAFRICA campaign.

The #INFORAFRICA Alliance against the coronavirus aimed to respond to the challenges faced by Africa in tackling the pandemic. Aequitas and its partners engaged opinion leaders, celebrities and influencers to deliver preventive and lifesaving messages across the continent as well as supporting initiatives which fight the disease, create a positive impact on local communities and contribute to achieving resilience.

The ambitious, continent-wide campaign achieved the support of the World Health Organisation, African Union and the Africa CDC to address the spread of misinformation and share vital health messages.

Aequitas Global has always believed in the power of words and ideas to transform lives, a concept which is truly brought to life in the #INFORAFRICA campaign.
