Driving the Sustainable Energy Transition: King Charles III’s Call for Private Sector Leadership

The transition to sustainable energy isn’t just a matter of environmental responsibility, it is a business imperative. As the world grapples with the accelerating impacts of climate change, the private sector has a pivotal role to play in driving innovation, investment, and scalable solutions.

This was the focus of the Terra Carta Roundtables & Exhibition, held last week at Hampton Court Palace. Marking five years since His Majesty King Charles III launched the Sustainable Markets Initiative, the Summit brought together hundreds of CEOs, government leaders, and innovators to mobilise the trillions of dollars needed for systems-level change across sectors and regions.

The event reinforced the economic case for a sustainable future, showcasing the investments made by the private sector over the past five years and outlining ambitious goals for 2030 and beyond. As Jennifer Jordan-Saifi, CEO of the Sustainable Markets Initiative, aptly stated: “The transition to a sustainable future is the growth story of our time. Yet to seize it, we must redouble our efforts, be bold with our ambitions, embrace new technologies, and drive tangible business opportunities around the world.”

Former US Secretary of State John Kerry emphasised in his closing speech that the transition is now a challenge of communications. He said, “we have the technology and the knowledge, but we must communicate effectively to bring others along on the journey towards a sustainable future.”

The Aequitas Global team were proud to support this pivotal event alongside our partners Forster Jones & Associates, and Sodali & Co who led the overall event communications. Over the two days of the summit our team managed media interviews with outlets such as AI Alerts, Deutsche Welle, and TRT World, amplifying the voices of CEOs and spokespeople driving sustainable progress.

Senator Kerry’s words resonate deeply with the founding principles of Aequitas Global – impactful communication is essential to build momentum, inspire action, and create meaningful change.
