Sustainable development is central to our mission at Aequitas Global. With teams based in London, UK and Abuja, Nigeria, and a network of global partners and associates, we recognise the vital role we play in shaping a fairer, more sustainable future through both the work we do for clients and how we operate as a business.
As the UN Global Compact reporting period concludes this month, we are reflecting on our ongoing commitment to environmental and social sustainability. Our work spans both these dimensions, supporting clients to drive positive change across sectors such as public health, circular economy, education, access to finance for women entrepreneurs, climate resilience, and international development.
We have been proud to campaign on the circular economy, leveraging strategic communications to champion the environmental and social benefits of reuse in the textile industry. For instance, our work with the Ghana Used Clothing Dealers Association (GUCDA) and its allies to challenge a wave of misinformation about the second-hand clothing trade, showcasing the power of community-led solutions to create meaningful environmental and economic impact.
In 2024, Aequitas Global was honoured to serve the Bayelsa Commission as it presented its seminal report, An Environmental Genocide, back to the people of Bayelsa State, Nigeria. Acting as Secretariat since the inception of the Commission, Aequitas Global managed the Commission’s research programme, gathering over 2,500 pieces of evidence from communities, coordinated production of the report, convened high-level events, and managed global media engagement, including the high-profile launch of the report at the UK House of Lords. This work reflects our commitment to amplifying voices calling for environmental justice.
This year we were also proud to support the Sustainable Markets Initiative at the Terra Carta Roundtables and Exhibition, held at Hampton Court Palace. Marking five years since the initiative was launched by His Majesty King Charles III, the summit brought together global CEOs, policymakers and innovators to accelerate the sustainable energy transition. Working alongside partners Forster Jones & Associates and Sodali & Co, Aequitas Global supported the event’s strategic communications, including managing international media engagement with Deutsche Welle, TRT World and others. As Senator John Kerry noted in his closing address, communication is central to achieving climate goals, a belief that sits at the core of our mission.
Our commitment extends to how we operate internally and with our partners. We strive to build a diverse, inclusive and supportive culture, actively managing our carbon footprint and helping clients embed environmental and social value in their own organisations.
Integrity is central to our ethos, and is embedded as one of our six behaviours of Aequitas Excellence. We maintain a zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and adhere to the highest standards of transparency and ethics at all times. This commitment not only safeguards our organisation but builds the trust essential to our work with clients and stakeholders worldwide.
We are proud of the impact we have made and remain dedicated to harnessing the power of strategic communications to drive lasting, transformative, positive change. We thank our staff, partners, and clients whose dedication, trust and collaboration make this work possible. Together, we continue to champion a sustainable future where people and the planet thrive.
